Art I Syllabus

Welcome to ART, I’m excited to have you in my class this school year. Art Materials needed: * Sketchbook with a minimal of 50pages or a folder with brads with white drawing paper * 2 packs of 24 lead pencils *1 12inch ruler * 1 box of color pencils (12 or more) *1 box of markers (12 or more)*1 box of crayons (24 or more) * Glue *1 pair of scissors *1 pack of erasers (6 or more) * 1 roll of paper towels or all purpose wipes* 1 plastic container for art supplies or shoebox * 1 large white poster (will be used to store graded artwork/portfolio)* 1 box of Kleenex or tissue *1 bottle of hand sanitizer SKETCHBOOK……Your sketchbook will be checked daily and it should be used for your homework, notes, warm-up assignments & sketches. ART class Rules/Expectations/Consequences: 1. Please be RESPECTFUL to others, your classmates and your teacher! 2. Please CLEAN your desk area! 3. Please RAISE your hand to leave your seat or to speak! 1st Offense….You will be given a written warning and your parent or guardian will be contacted. 2nd Offense…Disciplinary action will occur. ART class Procedures: * When you first enter the classroom SHARPEN YOUR PENCIL * Begin your Warm-Up(put in your sketchbook) * If you are TARDY, do not disturb any of your classmates, sign the tardy log and begin the Warm-up. * Take care of all your personal needs before you come to class, PASSES will only be given in the case of an emergency. * Bring your SKETCHBOOK and PENCIL to class everyday. * DO NOT bring any type of food into the classroom. * DO NOT remove or touch anything on my desks. * When you are finish with all the daily activities for the day, you may read an ARTbook or begin an extra credit drawing. *DO NOT bring Ipods,mp3 players, any electronic device to class. Cell phones need to be on silent before entering the classroom. *Leave your backpacks in your lockers. *Trash should be placed inside a trashcan/during clean up time-10mins before class dismissal. *NO excessive talking or walking in class. *Dress-code: NO hats or inappropriate clothing-pants should not be hanging below your waistline. *NO profanity-playing-singing-whistling-screaming-humming-dancing or any other acts of conduct that will interfere with the learning environment. *Destroying school property or Failure to comply with any of the class rules will result in a administrative referral/suspension/parent or guardian conference. Visitors to the classroom: When a visitor enters the classroom, please stay in your seat and stay focused on the assignment. GRADING PROCEDURES: Major Grades……………………50% Exams Art Projects Sketchbook Assignments Final Portfolio-Student Art Show Daily Grades……………………50% Participation Quizzes Homework Assignments 90-100 A Excellent work Active participation, complete understanding demonstrated, completion of assignment, good work habits. 80-89 B Good work Above average, show interest in trying to solve assignments. 75-79 C Average/Fair work Limited participation, understanding of art concepts and application. 70-74 D Poor work Below average, disinterest, do not try to complete assignments.
